PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

BIOCATALYST CAL B 10000 immobilized is a recombinant Candida antarctica lipase B enzyme expressed in Pichia pastoris cells. The product type BIOCATALYST CALB 10000 is based on a covalent immobilization on polyacrylate beads. CAL B consists of creamy white to white colored, uniformly shaped spheres with a defined particle size distribution of 300-500 µm at >95.0%. The immobilization of CAL B improves the stability, reusability and performance of the enzyme in various biocatalytic applications and, last but not least, facilitates simple separation from the reaction mixture by simple filtration.
The enzyme activity is at least 2,500 TBU units per g dry weight (tributyrin hydrolysis) and at least 10,000 PLU units per dry weight (propyl laurate synthesis). The dry weight is at least 95%.

Extensive and detailed documentation is available.

ADVANTAGES OF OUR IMMOBILIZED CAL B:

  • High enzymatic activity

  • High stability

  • Longer enzymatic activity

  • Easy separation or recovery of the enzyme from the reaction mixture and thus recycling

Some of the most common applications of CAL B are:

Enzymatic resolution of racemates:

Due to its high enantioselectivity, CAL B can be used in kinetic or dynamic kinetic resolution of racemates, where it selectively catalyzes the reaction of an enantiomer and thus enables the separation of chiral compounds. Typical reactions include esterification, transesterification, hydrolysis and amidation.

Production of flavors and fragrances:

CAL B can be used in the synthesis of esters for flavors and fragrances used in pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals and agrochemicals.

Industrial processes:

CAL B is used in various industrial processes, including the synthesis of specialty chemicals, pharmaceutical intermediates and bioactive compounds. It is used to produce chiral compounds with high enantioselectivity. It enables the efficient synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) with specific stereospecificity.

Production of omega-3 fatty acids:

CAL B can be used in the production of free omega-3 fatty acids in the esterification of free omega-3 acids or in transesterification reactions.
