Tetradecanedioic acid, also known as 1,14-tetradecanedioic acid or DC14, is an organic dicarboxylic acid with the chemical formula C14H26O4. It is characterized by the fact that it has a linear carbon chain with two terminal carboxylic acid functional groups (-COOH). Tetradecanedioic acid is a white solid that is insoluble in water but readily soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether.
Tetradecanedioic acid or its derivatives are used in polymer chemistry, as flavoring agents and corrosion inhibitors as well as in many other areas.
