Vitamin D3 Feed Grade – Animal feed

Vitamin D3, also known as cholecalciferol, is a fat-soluble vitamin that is used both in the food industry and in animal feed. It plays a crucial role in various physiological processes, particularly in the regulation of calcium and phosphorus metabolism. It helps in the absorption of calcium and phosphorus from the intestine and contributes to the maintenance of proper bone development and overall skeletal health.

The product Vitamin D3 500 Feed Grade is specially formulated for use as a feed additive and is encapsulated with gelatine and starch in a specially developed spray-drying process. This coating ensures protection against environmental influences such as light and temperature and guarantees industrial processing in so-called premixes without reducing the vitamin D3 content. The product has a minimum content of 500,000 IU/g cholecalciferol and is stable even over a longer storage period, which has been proven in long-term stability studies. This product is manufactured in Germany and therefore bears the “Made in Germany” seal. All raw materials, with the exception of vitamin D3, are of European origin. Just like the Resin in Oil variant, the vitamin D3 for the powder product is also sourced from India, the largest vitamin D3 manufacturer outside China. All of our feed grade vitamin D3 is made from a precursor molecule called 7-dehydrocholesterol, which is derived from lanolin (a waxy substance from New Zealand sheep’s wool).

In addition to the powdered feed additive, our vitamin D3 is also available as a resin in oil in various concentrations (see list below) and in various forms, including crystalline and oil-based formulations. It can be incorporated into animal feed at specific concentrations depending on the nutritional requirements of the target species. Supplementing animal feed with vitamin D3 is important to prevent deficiencies and promote optimal animal growth, health and production. This is particularly important in situations where animals are only exposed to limited sunlight, as vitamin D synthesis in the skin is stimulated by sunlight.
