PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

BIOCATALYST CAL B is a recombinant engineered enzyme of Candida antarctica lipase expressed in the yeast Pichia pastoris. CAL B is an extremely versatile and widely used biocatalyst in various industries such as the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. It exhibits high substrate specificity as well as high regio- and enantioselectivity. CAL B is widely used in (dynamic) kinetic racemate cleavage for the synthesis of chiral compounds. The product type BIOCATALYST CAL B 10 L is supplied as an enzyme concentrate formulated with buffer and approved preservatives. The consistency of CAL B 10 L is a yellow-green to green liquid. The enzyme activity is at least 10’000 TBU/mL (tributyrin hydrolysis).

Racemate cleavage of compounds:

Due to its high enantioselectivity, CAL B can be used in kinetic or dynamic kinetic racemate cleavage, where it selectively catalyzes the reaction of an enantiomer and thus enables the separation of chiral compounds. Typical reactions are esterification, transesterification, hydrolysis and amidation.

Pharmaceutical synthesis:

CAL B is used in pharmaceutical synthesis for the production of chiral compounds with high enantioselectivity. It enables the efficient synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) with specific stereospecificity.

Production of flavors and fragrances:

CAL B can be used in the synthesis of esters that contribute to the flavors and fragrances of various products, including food, beverages and cosmetics.

Production of specialty chemicals:

CAL B is involved in the synthesis of specialty chemicals, including fine chemicals and intermediates used in various industrial processes.

Production of omega-3 fatty acids:

STORAGE & SHELF LIFE

Store in a cool and dry place. The recommended storage temperature is below 10 °C. If the product is stored under these conditions, the specified activity is given for at least 12 months.
